Export Earning is Growing in Bangladesh Beyond Rana Plaza Tragedy

Export earning of Bangladesh is growing gradually. Recently Rana Plaza accident make huge criticism of BGMEA and BKMEA and overall Bangladesh labor law system. That's why  many reforms already been done related to labor and industrial. That's why BD is overcoming the Rana Plaza accident.

Commerce Secretary Mr Mahbub Ahmed  has told the newspaper reporters that Bangladesh is seeking to reach new buyers for new products around the world. It is a good initiative for Commerce ministry of Bangladesh. We congratulate this kind of initiatives to increase foreign exchange in export sector of Bangladesh.

Export earnings rises significantly in the first month of financial year of 2013-2013. According to the EPB the total export earnings rose to $3.024 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year of 2013-14 from $2.43 billion in the corresponding period of Fiscal Year 2012-13.

This is a  good indication for Bangladesh economy. Bangladeshi exporters should decrease the dependency on America and European market . Because this two groups is always united together. BANGLADESH EXPORT TARGET 30.5 BILLION USD FOR 2013-2014

The government has target 30.5 Billion US Dollar for the financial year 2013-14. Last year this target was 28 Billion. In last year it was achieved only 27.01 billion. So, almost 1 Billion dollar is less than the target. Rana Plaza collapse, Political unrest was the major causes among others for not achieving the target.

It is also assuming this year target will also not be achieved because of Jamat and BNP calling strike continually. Withdrawing of GSP facilities from the USA government will also effect on this target. In this regard government can find new export destination around the world.

In this regard ambassadors who are working in different countries  can contribute a lot to find new market from new countries. They are taking high salary from the heard earned money of public. But they are doing very less job for the country. So, it is time to engage Bangladeshi ambassadors to find new export market along with finding labor market.

Not only the depending on garments sector but some other sectors can also help to extend our export market around the world. Walton is the bright example of electronic industry. More industry should be built up following Walton. In this regard Govt should come ahead to bring new talent to build electronic industries in the country. Read more from FE Report
